Here is a presentation on the planning and design guidelines for sports arenas, stadiums and gymnasiums. This may be a useful information to those doing their architectural thesis or those doing research on this type of facility.
There are three primary sets of requirements which the sports arena designer should clearly define:
1. General Planning requirements
2. Spectator requirements
3. Operation/Management requirements
On occasion, conflicts will develop among these criteria as an optimum solution is pursued – for example, providing a maximum seating capacity for a large variety of events vis-à-vis attaining perfect sight lines for all spectators.
As these conflicts develop, a serious evaluation can be made of the alternatives at the appropriate stage of development of the design/planning process.
